Surgery carries real risks and a long recovery — and for most disc problems, it isn’t necessary. Research consistently shows non-surgical care produces excellent outcomes. Our disc therapy programs are built to get you there.
What Is It?

What Happens When a Disc Herniates?

Spinal discs are the shock-absorbing cushions between your vertebrae. Each disc has a tough outer ring and a soft gel-like center. When the outer layer tears — from injury, repetitive stress, poor posture, or aging — the inner material pushes outward and presses on nearby nerves.

This pressure causes pain that can radiate down the arm or leg, numbness, tingling, and muscle weakness. Our disc therapy programs target the pressure directly.

Can a Herniated Disc Heal Without Surgery?

Yes — for the vast majority of patients. Surgery is rarely necessary. Research shows most herniated discs respond very well to conservative care including spinal decompression and chiropractic treatment.

Our approach focuses on three core mechanisms: reducing intradiscal pressure, restoring spinal alignment, and improving circulation to allow the disc to rehydrate and repair naturally.

Our Approach

How We Treat Herniated Discs

Each treatment plan is tailored to your specific disc location, severity, and symptoms by Dr. Christopher Holet.

Spinal Decompression

Gentle motorized traction creates negative intradiscal pressure, drawing herniated material away from the nerve.

Chiropractic Adjustment

Precise spinal adjustments restore vertebral alignment and relieve mechanical pressure on the herniated disc.

Soft Tissue Therapy

Therapeutic massage reduces muscle guarding and tension that contributes to disc pressure and slows recovery.

Corrective Exercise

Core strengthening and posture coaching to stabilize the spine and prevent re-injury after recovery.

Not necessarily. We can assess your condition clinically and determine whether imaging is needed. Many patients see significant improvement without prior imaging.
Most patients begin feeling meaningful relief within 4–8 weeks. Full recovery depends on the severity of the herniation. We track your progress throughout. Visit our New Patient Center for more information.
